Casting Simulation Software Z – Cast
Z-CAST is the first Casting Process CAE system for windows in Korea, was co-developed by KITECH and Cubictek (developing solver from 20 years ago and it has been certified in the real casting production) used for industrial and educational purposed and is applied in the fields of CAD/CAM/CAE, Simulation. The different modules in Z-Cast are as follows:

Solidification Analysis
- Simulation module of metal solidification process based on metallurgy and physics
- Heat transfer analysis function for whole casting process, from pouring to solidification, based on the 3D simulation
- Apply to all casting processes including sand mould casting, permanent mould casting and Investment casting
- Able to predict casting defect by temperature gradient and niyama criterion
- Quantitative, qualitative prediction of shrinkage defects considering gravitational effect
- High performance simulation function through memory sharing parallel computation technology
- High speed simulation function by clustering technology
Fluid Flow Analysis
- Precise calculation of high-temperature molten metal flow by numerical simulation
- Available to change the casting design by predicting casting defects due to molten metal movement in the stage of design
- Gas defect which is caused by gas entrapment owing to improper molten metal filling pattern
- Cold shut or misrun that generate due to solidification before the cast is filled
- Erosion defect generation when molten metal makes mold transform, and erode the mold surface
- Inclusion mixes with molten metal
Thermal stress and Deformation Analysis
- FDM/FEM element generation using automated mesh generator for Z-CAST
- Prediction of thermal stress distribution
- Prediction of deformation and distortion aspect
- Defect prediction
- Design optimisation and product design.
Cyclic Analysis of Casting
- Independent control capabilities corresponding to temperature or time of each cooling channel
- Automatic control for cooling channel depending on coolant type and cooling capability
- Casting defect prediction by temperature gradient and Niyama Criterion
- Capabilities for heat transfer analysis using temperature distribution calculated by mold-filling calculation.
- Providing high-performance simulation environment coupled with parallel computation technology
